Pickens School is a quaint, rural school nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of central West Virginia,  which provides quality education to students in kindergarten through twelfth grades.

The mission of Pickens School is to educate all students in a secure environment which encourages intellectual and moral development; where all students, educators, parents, and community members are valued stakeholders.

​Core Beliefs

• Quality education can best be achieved with the full support and cooperation of parents and the community.

• Students are the primary focus of the school system and form the basis for all decisions.

• Learning is a complex, individual, and life long process that is enhanced by shared responsibility of the school, family, and the community.

• High expectations and academic rigor must be clearly stated and consistently upheld by students, parents, staff, and community members.

Student learning should be focused on WV content standard and learning should be relevant to work and the world beyond school.
