Our Commitment

Elkins Middle School is proud of the on-going commitment and dedication put forth by the faculty, staff, students, and parents, especially during the lengthy process of our school renovation.  We are very grateful for the SBA grants and the Sunshine Lady Foundation grant, which provided us with a state of the art facility that has brought us to the 21st Century. Our school is not only aesthetically refreshing, but we now have the state of the art infrastructure that is needed to connect with our 21st Century Learners (our students), who have grown up in this technological era.

Our Pride

We are proud of our student's academic accomplishments and achievements! We are also proud of our PBS (Positive Behavior Support) program where our students are awarded for their outstanding behaviors... attending school, participating in classroom activities, and cooperating with others.

Flash From The Past!

A collage featuring four images: a group of people studying, children participating in an outdoor activity, a dining scene with people at a long table, and a scenic view of mountains, all arranged in a grid format with the year '1986' displayed at the bottom right.

Elkins Jr. High, grades 7-9 was built in 1952-53.  At that time the superintendent was Stark Wilmoth.  Board members were: James Wetzel, U.B. Painter, W.P. Johnson, and David Wamsley.  The building was designed by Griefe and Daley and constructed by Vandegrift Construction Company.

In the mid 1970's, an additional nine classrooms were added to the facility and by the late 1980's, Elkins Jr. High had a new band room.

Elkins Jr. High became Elkins Middle School in 1992.  At that time a new cafeteria and library media center, funded by SBA, became the focal point of the middle school. The Superintendent of Schools at that time was Glen Karlan.  David Roth and retired assistant principal, Bill Mauller were the administrators for the new middle school.
